COPLEY SQUARE took the lead at once and, unable to keep up with the early leaders, dropped back on the far turn, but came again on the outside in the stretch, took the lead in the last eighth and won in hand. TOXEY finished fast on the outside to outlast FAIR MOLE. The latter, close up throughout, raced gamely to the finish. MAJOR GOMEZ was in close quarters in the early stages. MAR JEAN tired after taking command on the stretch turn. DEMAGOGUE opened up a good lead, but quit after half a mile. OUR PRIDE showed good speed. THOMAS SETH raced RED VEST into defeat, but tired in the closing fifty yards. ANALYST showed a good performance and finished close up. TENNYWOOD tired near the end. BELLARION, away slowly, ran in greatly improved form, took the lead in the closing sixteenth, but could not last. GOLDEN LIGHT raced into contention after half a mile, took a short lead at mid-stretch, but could not last. ANNE L. tired in the strech. BIG PLAY quit badly after reaching a contending position. RED DIAMOND was never a factor. SCONE was in close quarters on the stretch turn. FORGET NOT and WIGROSE dropped back when the real racing began. MONKS BELA dashed to the front soon after the start, set a good pace, but tired near the finish. FRIEND JOHN was always close up, but also tired slightly. LADY WESTY could not keep up in the early stages, but was going well at the end. GO EASY was a factor all the way. UPHEAVAL was in early trouble and dropped out of it. The others were outrun.
