Top price of the sale e was 3,000, paid by trainer Frank Butters, 1 acting for Sir Alfred Butt, for the high-class IS colt Orpen, runner-up in the Derby and St. t. Leger last season. Orpen, a bay son of Solario, from Harpy, f* by Swynford, from Flaming Vixen, by Flying £ Fox, last year won the Union Jack 2 Stakes, Liverpool; Hardwicke Stakes, Ascot " and St. George Stakes, Liverpool, and finished third in the Two Thousand Guineas J and John Porter Stakes. He is engaged in " all this seasons cup races, and other valuable stakes, and may prove a bargain, n, though the day of big prices is past. Next best price was 2,500, paid by trainer 1- Joe Lawson, for Raymond, a bay two-year-old son of Gainsborough, from Nipisi-quit, :i- by Buchan, out of Herself, by Neil ■il Gow. The British Bloodstock Agency went to to 2,500 to gain possession of Earlston, a two-year-old brother to Andrea, a brown colt by Solario, from Persuasion, by Roi Herod e, from Flash of Steel, by Royal Realm, from Flaming Vixen. For the promising three-year-old colt Andrea, a maiden to date, trainer Jack L. Jarvis, acting for the Duke of Marlborough, paid 1,000. The bay son of Solario and Persuasion will be trained for future engagements by Captain Percy Whittaker at Newmarket. Spreckle, a maiden three-year-old brown filly by Solario, from Postmark, by Friar Marcus, from Post Haste, by William the Third, was purchased for ,750 by Sir F. — Freake, while T.
