ANOKA, starting fast, raced SANTA CREST into defeat and tired, in the closing eighth. SPHERE OF BEAUTY raced close up all the way and closed gamely. SABANA was unable to reach the leaders. The latter moved up in the closing three-eighths, but was not good enough. PENNATE, sore going to the .post, moved up leaving the back stretch, went to the outside in the stretch, but was unable to make up any ground. SOLACE, also sore going to the post, was outrun. FAIR AVIS stumbled and went to her knees on the first turn, then closed a gap. CELERITAS also met interference. STAR tircdj WANDERING GOLD dropped back badly alter going half a mile.
