MARES FOR EMPEROR OF JAPAN LEXINGTON, Ky., June 15. Tomo Ichijo, Tokio, Japan, has completed the purchase of three mares for the Emperor of Japan and will leave here on June 20 for San Francisco to sail with them on the Soyo Maru, departing June 30 for Japan. He expects the trip to occupy seventeen days and by July 18 he expects to arrive with the mares at the royal farm at Shimosa, Japan. The mares are Secure, bay six-year-old, by Purchase Jura, by Broomstick; in foal to Sir Gallahad III., purchased from A. B. Hancock. Sloping, chestnut five-year-old, by Fair Play Shelving, by Trap Rock; bred to St. Germans, purchased from Dr. Charles E. Hagyard. Valiant Lady, brown three-year-old, by Under Fire Pepsin, by Chicle; bred to Chance Play, purchased from Phil T. Chinn, agent.
