DISDAINFUL TRIUMPHS Repeats Top Flights Success in Valuable Clover Stakes. Whitney Miss Gallops Five -Eighths in :59 at Aqueduct Charon. Victorious in Third Race. NEW YORK, N. Y., June 15. Disdainful, the swift running daughter of John P. Grier and Pandera, duplicating the victory of her queenly stablemate Top Flight a year ago, was winner of the Clover Stakes at the Aqueduct course today. She had more of a task carrying the light blue and brown cap of the famous C. V. Whitney stable than did the daughter of Dis Done and Flyatit last year, but it was none the less a notable victory. The five furlongs was run over a course which, while good, was far from being fast and carrying three pounds over scale weight, the Whitney miss ran the distance in :59 to earn the ,500 prize. Closely lapped on her at the finish was J. H. Louchheims Fancy Flight and Joseph El Wideners White Lies easily saved third from Glorify, which raced for Mrs. William Ziegler, Jr.s Middleburg Stable. This was the feature of an interesting program, in which the selling platers had most of the opportunities. After the recent inclement weather, conditions were more favorable and there was a noticeable increase in the attendance. The start in the Clover was a good one and, while Samuel D. Riddles Speed Boat was more alert than the others in leaving, Disdainful was soon close alongside and going stride for stride with the daughter of Man o War. White Lies, which ad an inside position, was almost at once badly buffeted about, as there was a crowding over from the outside and Two Tricks and Glorify also suffered considerable interference. In the meantime Speed Boat and Disdainful, closely lapped, were staging a great duel out in front and finally the Whitney filly made the daughter of Friars Carse quit but no sooner was Speed Boat through than Fancy Flight, which had been following the leaders closely, took up the battle and Disdainful was not permitted a breathing spell. F,ancy Flight hung right to the daughter of John P. Grier to the final stride but Disdainful still had her head safely in front as she crossed the line. White Lies, after her early misfortune, outfinished the others to take third but she was three lengths back and four lengths before the tired Speed Boat, which readily saved fourth from Two Tricks. By a determined rush right at the end. Mack Garner landed T. P. Hayes Easy winner over the cheap ones that met in the first race at one mile and a furlong. He was up to beat J. P. Louchheims Robrack and J. C. Haggertys Traumel, after carrying all the pace, saved third from Stellanova, with Epoch a close fifth. Gusto, which Max Hirsch has named for the American Derby for M. L. Schwartz, was shipped to Chicago to fulfill his engagement in the race.
