WHITNEYS ENGLISH VICTORY Special Cablegram. LIVERPOOL, England, Nov. 9 Thomond II., owned by the American sportsman, John Hay Whitney, won the Beecher Steeplechase, the first jumping event of the season, at Aintree today. Colliery Band, owned by Mrs. M. M. Collins, was second and Lone Eagle II., stablemate of the winner and in the same ownership, was third. There were six starters.
