GIFT OF ROSES, slightly forced back soon after the start, lost much ground at the turn and particularly when entering the stretch and closed boldly in the center of the track, her rider dismounting with a bruised eye. MOROI, suited by the going and close up from the start, saved ground at the stretch turn, slowly wore down METEORIC after coming to the outside the last throe-sixteenths and was not endangered by LONG JOHN. The latter also saved some ground at the turn, but went out after reaching the stretch and returned to the inside in the late stages, closed well. METEORIC had speed, took a wide advantage at the stretch turn, but weakened. SPECKLE had speed, but was raced very wide. FOXEY BURT showed nothing. JIM MACAW lacked his speed. EDEYESS broke poorly and was pulled up. SHAKER LADY, .hustled through on the inside shortly after the start, drew into a long lead before reaching the turn, where she also saved ground, then weakened after five-eighths, but under strong riding stalled off ALTMARK. The latter raced very wide the first three-eighths, during which he was well in hand, withstood mild pressure for three sixteenths after reaching the stretch, but was faltering badly in the late stages. K. RUSSELL, rank at the post and away slowly, lost ground and closed gamely in a good effort. HOOPS, slow to get going, was strongest of all in the final run. DON ROMIRO quit after five-eighths. The latter quickly drew inlo an easy lead, bore out badly at the far turn and, weakening after reaching the stretch, could not withstand the winner. ED LARK moved up with a rush at the stretch turn and went fairly well in the subsequent drive. BIRTHDAY GIFT had speed and stumbled badly at the last turn. HIGH STORM was weakly ridden and appeared to sulk. STAR PLAY lacked his speed.
