OUR ADMIRAL took command quickly, withstood challenges from JENS SON, but was hard urged and had little left. JENS SON began fast, showed speed, but could not overtake the winner. HOOSIERS PRIDE, badly jostled about in the first quarter, moved up fast in the stretch, then tired. ARYOUTHERE, close up from the start, lost much ground and tired in the stretch. SOUTHLAND DUKE had little chance due to crowding until reaching the stretch. LITTLE VALLEY was on the outside from the start and quit. THOMASVILLE was shuffled back. SECRET TRYST stumbled in the stretch. BETTY REJOICE was moving up when she went out hadlv on the turn. MARCH KING worked his way clear before a quarter, easily increased his advantage on the turn and held sway thereafter. SUFFOLK improved his position on the turn and closed gamely under strong riding. GRACEFUL LAD stumbled and almost went to his knees leaving the back stretch and pulled up lame. CONTRABAND dropped out of it on the stretch turn. MT. WASHINGTON, fractious at the post, where he unseated his rider before the start, showed speed, but tired. LADYKIN quit. SPANISH WAY ran out badly. MANNERISM was alwavs far hack. ON SIR, much the best, followed the early pacemaker under strong restraint, took the lead gradually | and, drawing clear, was steadied along to the final eighth. THREAT, a factor from the start and steadied j along to the stretch, did not threaten the winner, but held on gamely. TELA began slowly and, responding to urging, finished strongly. BILLY JONES showed speed, saved ground throughout and quit in the final drive. VILLAGE VAMP, well in hand for five eighths, failed to get up under pressure. CHUM fell lame and was pulled up. OLD JUDGE, forced to lose ground when keeping up at tne first turn and on the outside when following the early leaders, went to the front on the outside and, under restraint leaving the back stretch, was much the best and won thereafter. POPO had speed from the start, was cleverly rated and weakened in the final eighth, but outstayed CIRCEAN. The latter, far back in the early stages, lost ground- at the stretch turn and closed strong. JOHNNY SHAW made up much ground in the stretch. EVA JANE moved up in the stretch, then weakened. CHAUVENET quit. SPECKLE had no excuse. OSWEGO PRINCESS and HIGH DIVER were always outrun. PRINCE DUNROYAL had early speed.
