NO CUT IN OTTAWA PURSES MONTREAL, Que., Aug. 2. That there will not be any reduction in the purses for the meeting of the Connaught Park Jockey Club at Ottawa was assured when secretary Tommy Gorman arrived in Montreal yesterday. The meeting of the Connaught Park Jockey Club will follow Dorval, opening on Saturday, August 12, and will continue until Saturday, August 19. In speaking of the rumor that the purses had been reduced, secretary Gorman stated that there was no truth in it. Instead there will be an increase, as there will be two handicaps at 00 and two at 00 during the seven days of racing. The first race will be called to the post each afternoon at 3:30.
