1 HAWTHORNE TURF NOTES t Carl Hanford, brother of the late jockey Buddy Hanford, left for New York, where he will be given a trial by Preston Burch. Carl is jrery anxious to become a jockey and has had some experience. His younger brother, Iran, is Tiere with J. Parmalee, but may return to Omaha to re-enter school in September. Iran also is an excellent prospect. Jockey Carl Meyer, who has been with the J. Parmalee-M. B. Cohen stable- for some time, was an arrival from Rockingham Park and reported to Parmalee here. Dennis Riley, former jockey, has been engaged to look after the engagements of J. Malzan, apprentice with the J. D. Mikel sta- ble. Although Burning Blaze has been doing most favorably in what little work trainer J. J. Greely, Sr., has asked of him in recent weeks, it is doubtful if he will resume racing this year. Greely, however, will keep him in light training the remainder of the Chicago season, following which he goes back to the Shandon Farm.
