SPRINTERS IN FEATURE RACE MIGHTY CAVALCADE Dr Pepper Purse Heads Program at Fairmount Park Track Moon Shy Earns Her First Purse of Year Yearin in Second Kace Jack Chevigny ChevignyGraduates Graduates COLLINSVILLE 111 June 14 The Dr j Pepper Purse a claiming affair for three yearolds and over which brought together six sprinters over the five and a half fur ¬ longs and was run as the fifth race served as the feature event on the sevenrace card l is afternoon at Fairmount Park It brought together the crack sprinter Malolo which was assigned 117 pounds Flying Don winner of his last two races Wise Eddie a consistent winner during the spring Anna rita Sun Dora and Anne L Malolo was made the favorite and much support was given Flying Don Annarita and Wise Eddie while Sun Dora and Anne L were outsiders outsidersExcellent Excellent weather brought another large crowd to the course with a fast track pre ¬ vailing vailingB B Hernandez recently acquired Jack Chevigny left the maiden ranks when he accounted for the first race defeating Linch ¬ pin by threequarters of a Jength with Gay Days five lengths to the rear of Linchpin The latter coming from New York a few days ago had the most early speed and out ¬ paced his opponents with Jack Chevigny holding the runnerup position and Swamp Queen third In the stretch drive D R Stuller took Jack Chevigny to the outside j and under strong pressure wore Linchpin down in the final twenty yards yardsEnjoying Enjoying better racing luck than in her previous start E K Brysons fouryearold Moon Shy earned her first purse of the year in the second race over six furlongs when she defeated Equation Linmast and nine other fouryearolds and older olderL L Haas had the mount on the Bryson representative and rode well She began slowly but Haas had her with the leaders in the first quarter with Equation showing the most speed and Princella second and the winner third On the far turn Haas took Moon Shy into second place when Equation took a two lengths lead with Prin ¬ cella dropping back Entering the stretch Equation still maintained a two lengths lead with Moon Shy racing on the outside of the leader When Equation showed signs of tiring Haas called on the daughter of St James and responding gamely caught the tiring Equation easily and came away to a length lead at the finish Equation managed to outstay the fastfinishing Lin mast by a length for second place placeEleven Eleven threeyearold maidens met in the third race and Joseph Cattarinichs Runy Bean was the successful one when she won a cleancut victory over Blake with Friond Tom saving third thirdThe The winner having the services of Leon Haas who was riding his second straight winner took the filly to the front after leav ¬ ing the barrier rated her along for half a mile and came away and was in front by four lengths at the end endA A stirring finish resulted in the fourth race for threeyearolds and over at six fur ¬ longs when Shipp MacMasters Run On the fourth straight favorite to win got up in the list stride to defeat Wild Child by a nose with Battling Knight a half length behind them and Macks Pal a like distance behind the third horse horseMacks Macks Pal showed the speed of the field and opened a lead of a length in the opening quarter with Wild Child second and Battling Knight in third position They raced this way for the next quarter with the others closing in Entering the stretch Macks Pal began to tire and was leading Wild Child by a slight margin with Run On replacing Battling Knight and the latter fourth In the final stages Macks Pal tired and Wild Child took the lead in the final furlong Manifold on the winner was on the outside of the leaders and coming with a great rush got the verdict from Wild Child in the last stride With stronger handling in the stretch drive Battling Knight might have been much closer
