MIGHTY CAVALCADE SWEEPS INTO DETROIT READY FOR THE DERBY Discovery His Most Dangerous Rival Also Arrives From East Plight Travels by Motor From Washington Park Field of 12 for 25000 Event j DETROIT Mich June 14 The mighty Cavalcade swept into Detroit this morning He was accompanied by eight others of the Brookmeade Stable of Mrs Isabel Dodge Sloane but only Time Clock will go with him in the Detroit Derby to be decided here Saturday Cavalcade always has a com ¬ panion when he goes after these big stakes and Derbys Only once did he need one arid that was in the Preakness Stakes Al ¬ though High Quest beat him Cavalcade proved he could hold the others safe Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilts Discovery trailed the mighty Britisher into the Fair Grounds unloading chute Discovery has been trailing Cavalcade since they first met in the Chesapeake Stakes They completed the list of invaders from the East William Sachsenmaiers Plight arrived here early this morning after a fast motor trip from Washington Park J W Parrlshs New Deal is due sometime today or early tomorrow With the latters arrival all of the intended starters will be on the grounds groundsNot Not since the Kentucky Derby has the East offered such formidable competition for the son of Lan egaye Although Peace Chance the winner of the Belmont Stakes did not come west to meet Cavalcade he failed to offer him an argument in the Ken ¬ tucky Derby and while the others will be receiving a concession in weights from the Kentucky and American Derby winners Peace Chance would shoulder an equal im ¬ post of 126 pounds PREDERBY
