DEAD HEAT PAYOFF In order to settle all disputes which generally arise when a dead heat is run the following are the rules when settling wagers made on horses at tracks where straight bookmaking prevails Tractable opening at 2 and closing at 8 to 5 the average odds are taken which in this case was 205 to 1 The 205 is added to the 1 bet making a total of 305 This is split in half arid the player receives 152 and the layer 152 Little Argo opened at 30 and closed at 40 thus the odds in his case average 35 to 1 This added to the 1 bet makes 36 split between bet ¬ tor and layer or 18 to each
