PREPARE FOR CHARITY DAY Proclamation by Louisville Mayor Sets Aside May 20 as Half Holi ¬ day Garner to Speak LOUISVILLE Ky May 10 A proclama ¬ tion by Mayor Neville Miller setting aside May 20 as a halfholiday and a final get together dinner for members of the Junior Board of Trade sponsoring organization featured yesterdays busy day of planning activities for the Charity Day of racing at Churchill Downs on that date dateBy By virtue of Mayor Millers proclamation all city employees will be granted a half holiday and several manufacturing plants and business houses have agreed to offer the same privilege privilegeMack Mack Garner dean of American riders was the principal speaker at the Junior Board of Trade banquet He spoke in be ¬ half of the horsemen assuring the organi ¬ zation that owners trainers and jockeys would cooperate to the fullest extent in hopes of making this years charity program an even greater success than that of last year at which time 18000 was realized Jockey Garner was introduced by Ben Helm HelmRoscoe Roscoe Goose Jack T Weaver S Bryan Ott and Daniel E Stewart were appointed as a committee to solicit entries for the pro ¬ gram which will be featured by the Wood F Axton Memorial Handicap and a revival of Gentlemens Cup racing Mr Goose was selected as chairman
