FLIGHT OF GOLD, away well, was taken in hand while racing between horses, raced to the outside on I the turn to move up fast and withstood along drive gamely. PLAYAWAY worked his way up steadily, came between horses in the stretch, took a brief lead after passing the eighth post and held on well. CIVILIAN, in hand in the early stages, moved up with a rush entering the. stretch, but tired fjadly after getting to the front. KWAMUDI was well up from the start, but tired. FIRST CLASS was on the inside early, went to the outside and gained steadily in the late stages. CANROCK followed the early pace closely, but faltered in the drive. MOTLEY had good speed in the early running, moved up to thi, leader at the stretch turn, then faltered. IRKSOME was never troublesome. VERNA T. did not like tin going and was cased up when beaten. HIT AND-RUN -was well back in the opening half mile, improved his position slowly on the outside and came with a rush in the final eighth. ,SILENT SHOT moved along smoothly back of the pace, challenged on the second turn, but faltered in the late stages. BLAMELESS set a steady pace under strong restraint, swerved when placed to punishment in the stretch, blocking WANDREL and just lasted for second place. IMPEL was far back in the early stages and closed with a belated rush. MR. MACK showed an even effort HOUR ZEV tired badly after being close tq the pace for three-quarters under mild urging. Overweight Mr. Mack, 5 pounds.
