TRANSEN, going in her best form 3nd well handled, was forced to lose ground early, responded fast entering the stretch, wore EXPLORER down soon afterwards and held BLAGDEN safe. The latter, away fastest but shuffled back, saved ground for a half mile, was steered to the outside in the stretch and finished strongly. OLD NICK, shuffled back soon after the start, worked his way forward steadily and closed with a rush. TREVALLION, in close quarters early, was sent to the outside for racing room and made up ground rapidly in the drive. BLACK HAT closed with a rush. FAIRSIDE, outrun for three-eighths, came to the inside for the drive, but tired rapidly after reaching contention. ANIMATE stumbled soon after the start and showed nothing thereafter. ALBERT BECK, away fastest 61 all, failed to withstand the winner, forged to the front entering the stretch, but weakened near the end. ERUPTION, never far back and on the outside, finished strongly. EVILO worked her way forward on the inside and weakened after reaching contention. CANAVIA, a strong factor from the start, swung wide entering the stretch, but came again in the last eighth.
