AURORA TURF NOTES 1 e Emil Denemark, Chicago owner, nominated four of his three-year-olds for the Illinois Derby, 2,000 added, which is to be run May 22. Those of the Denemark stable which will be pointed for the first Illinois stake are Brilliant Light, Higher Cloud, Blind Pig and Flavor. Mr. Denemark in a letter to general manager Robert Eddy said that he would start at least two of his charges in the Derby here. T. C. Worden was a visitor to the Fox Valley course Monday and said that the following horses would be shipped from Kansas City to the Aurora course: The Break, Repaid and three others. He said he received word from Ben Jones that his Derby horse Mansco was not doing well and he did not think he would be ready for the Illinois stake. George Foster, secretary of the Illinois Racing Commission, was a visitor to the course Saturday and was highly complimentary about the appearance of the grounds and the several improvements made at the Fox Valley course. He was especially impressed with the condition of the track proper, which has been resurfaced. Just Frank, one of the Illinois Derby candidates, was out for a breeze over the track, going five-eighths in 1:06. Ami jo, another prospect, went a half in :48. There was some fifty or more horses which breezed, including Pancoast, which turned three-eighths in :37, which will give a general idea of the track condition at present. Racing secretary Richard Leigh received word from A. G. Tarn Monday that he would ship Rushaway, second in the Texas Derby Saturday to The Fighter, following the close of the Arlington meeting, along with Back Log, Epernay, Moonsan and Sir Gawaine. He nominated the latter, along with Rushaway to the Illinois Derby. The latter runs in the colors of Don Grant and W. C. Stroube. Two carloads of horses arrived from Hot Springs Monday morning with the horses of the Blue Ridge Farm and those of Dave Christian. The horses of Christian included: Mizie, My Ideal, Deferred, Prince Ballot, Lucky Prospero, Beige, Blind Star and Hustle Away. Those of the Blue Ridge Farm were Mr. James, Dusky Devil, Lame Duck, Transmutable, El Bailarino, Judge Bolton, Understand and others. Another carload arrived from California which included, among others, the horses of B. B. Johnson. Buddy Berry wired for stable reservations for three horses which he will campaign at Aurora. Two carloads arrived Monday from New Orleans, including the horses of Johnny Zoeller, K. Russell, Joe Cooper and Milton Resseguet. George Ogle will ship this week five head from Arlington, Texas. Other applications received from that point for stable room at Aurora included Mrs. V. E. Berry, H. K. Barrow, Elmer Cox, Al Horton and Star Buck-land. Butsey Hernandez wired that he was well pleased with the showing of Lolschen and Flag Cadet in the Texas Derby, when they ran fourth and fifth, and said that he will start both in the Illinois Derby. He said they are showing improvement with each engagement and will give a good account of themselves in the Illinois Stake.
