1 CHURCHILL DOWNS NOTES I $ : Jockey Wayne Wright is due to report to Pete Coyne, trainer of the J. E. Widener stable, Tuesday. Wright will have the mount on Brevity in the Kentucky Derby. In addition to the Kentu-i!:y Derby eligi-bles, He Did and Valevictorian, the stable of Mrs. Silas B. Mas"on, which arrived here from Arlington Downs on Friday, included Pretty Russell, Couleedam and two two-year-olds and Planetoid, owned by J. T. Taylor, the Mason trainer. Others of the Mason horses, which had been in training under Walter Taylor, were taken over by his older brother upon his arrival from Texas. Jockey C. Kurtsinger, who will handle He Did in the Kentucky Derby, is with the stable. Watt Seamster, with the F. A. Griffith horses, and Cecil Howard, with those he is racing for R. C. Thatcher, are en route here from Arlington Downs, according to advices received by track superintendent Thomas Young. Another important stable expected from the Lone Star State is that trained by Lloyd Gentry and embracing the horses of H. C. Hatch and Mrs. R. B. Fairbanks. Dan Brarii-mer, one of the leading riders of the country, is under engagement to this stable. The young western saddle star, Basil James, whose contract was purchased recently by Henry H. Cross, owner of Tranquillity Farms, has reported to trainer E. L. Snyder at Churchill Downs. The main division of the Waggoner Brothers Three Ds Stock Farm coming here from Texas at the conclusion of the Arlington Downs meeting will be in charge of Richard N. Vestal. While suffering bruises and lacerations, jockey Gerald Gleason, employed by Mose Goldblatt, escaped serious injury when he was thrown by the two-year-old Dr. Menen-dez at Churchill Downs Saturday. Gleason, however, is in a hospital. Exclusive of arrivals Sunday and Monday, horses training at Churchill Downs and Douglas Park numbered 1,014, according to tabulation Sunday by Thomas Oliphant, Churchill Downs racing official.
