ATOEL raced to the front early and opened up a good lead after going half the distance, but tired badly in the last eighth. LADY BEWITHUS was never far away and responded gamely to hard urging to finish close up. ALTOBANK dropped back after breaking well and came again in the stretch, but was never dangerous. MISS BALKO tired near the finish. PROUD INDIAN was in close quarters in the stretch and dropped back. MON-IMAGE acted badly at the post, was shuffled back at the start and was never a contender. CANNY SCOT was close to the pace from the start, and went well to the end, under fairly good riding by his novice jockey. LAPLAND dropped back in the early part and close with a belated rush. ZEBULO lost much ground by racing in the middle of the track most of the way, but was going well at the finish. LOOK OUT BELOW could not keep up despite hustling riding and was in close quarters in the stretch. BRILLIANT KING was pulled up when in close quarters soon after the start and had little chance.
