I MESSAGE FOR LORD DERBY | LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 2.— Lord Derby, English nobleman and sportsman, was rooting for Brevity to win this afternoons renewal of the Kentucky Derby. In a cablegram sent from England and received by Joseph E. Widener at Churchill Downs before the race, Lord Derby sent the following message: "Best wishes for the Kentucky Derby. Hope you will win. Give my best wishes to all friends at Churchill Downs." Lord Derby was guest of honor at the Kentucky Derby of 1931, when he attended with Mr. Widener and made the presentation of the Derby gold trophy to William Woodward, whose Gallant Fox triumphed in that running. The Kentucky Derby is fashioned after the English Derby, named in honor of Lord Derbys father.
