I j DETROIT TURF NOTES I $ -s Des Dressen, who has charge of the pari-mutuel department, stated Friday that he will have ninety-five sellers and ninety cashiers working opening day. Mike Mitchell, former big league ball player, is his chief assistant. Henry Torriente arrived from Aurora with Rizla, Right Rank, Banners Flying, Son Richard, Fair Time, Axtel, Sweep Myth, Skotchy, Ted Conard, Dixie Fox, Gay Banner, Willow Wood and Broadway Girl. C. Mojena, the Cuban lad, accompanied the stable here. Judge Joseph A. Murphy, director of racing, issued the following ruling Friday morning: "When a request is made for the use of a tongue strap, Dr. La Fond, the associations veterinarian, will furnish a light linen strap, which will be the only one permitted to be used in races. Owners, and trainers can secure these in the paddock from Dr. La Fond." Starter Eddie Thomas ground crew consists of Noel Chillcut, Gene Kennedy, Paul Young, Grayson Philpot, John Bracken and Harry Palmer. Among the riders that have registered with William Kelley, custodian of the jockeys quarters, are M. Calvert, R. Montgomery, F. Ritz, Earl Porter, H. Hughes, T. Vercher, C. Mojena, E. Burns, B. H. Koepke, who serves as the bookkeeper of the horsemens accounts here, at Arlington Downs and at Alamo Downs, arrived from Chicago, where he has been vacationing since the close of the Arlington Downs meeting. J. Harry Patterson, field representative of the Thoroughbred Horse Owners and Trainers Association, arrived from Aurora in the interest of his association. Headed by Lolschen and Flag Cadet, eligi-bles for the Detroit Derby, the string Butsy Hernandez brought here from Aurora included Indiana Flyer, Little Upset, Wood-lander, Zuni, The Pelican, Nicks Gal, Nancy, Barrette, Eva R. and Indiantown. Jockey L. Turner is with the stable. M. Hathaway has been engaged to train the horses Jack Young brought here. . Sound Advice, stakes winner during the Texas season; Reaping, Hasty Glance, Hows Chances,- Miss Petrina, Storm Angel, Crout au Pot, Jeu de Bar, Nedvive, Noahs Pride, Ima Count, Technique, Southern Way, Albino, Jack- Cpnner and Gannonnic comprised j the division of the Mrs. A. M. Creech stable Benny Creech brought here. Apprentice C. Parke and jockey Charles Parvin accompanied the shipment. Former jockey Ralph Whittakeris training Henrierva, Little Peggy ind . Mary Ellen - for the Greenfield Stable. - In addition to Good Scout, Gray Porte and Step in Time, which he brought here from Aurora, H. K. Barron is receiving Royal Link from Texas. Jockey S. Erwin is with the stable. Glen Felkner checked in from Aurora with Mah Grant, Alwintour, Runamuck, The Jurist, Here On, Ida King and Spicate, which race under the Blue Ribbon Stable colors. The consistent Indian Salute, Always Blue, Hildur Prince, Mymiss, John Bane and Gay Bill comprised the useful stable Z. E. McGregor brought here from Aurora. Bichloride, Babuska, Busy Jane and Reelaway comprised the string. G. E. Lewis vanned from Churchill Downs. Ross Cooper unloaded Sir Ridgeway, Mick-eys Man, Gay Streamer, Beverly Hills, Amy Cooper, Green Flame, Sporting Green, Roxana S., Rich Jane, El Portal, Chilla Lee, Bonagai, Bonicon, Wrackfield and Don Crofton. They came from Tanforan. Another car came from the same point bringing Rolling Wheels, Baranca, Battling Knight and Midshipman, which are trained by B. Broadfoot; Happy Hunter, Squeeze Out and Boots, the property of E. J. Rollins; E. G. Haskalls Almaha and J. P. McGoverns Merely, Dignified and Bonynge. Paul Kelley vanned Dark Zeni, Le Miserable, Homer L., Genial Manners, Merry Caroline, Fanfern, Payne, Parawick, Crazy Jane and two others. Apprentice B. Guymon is with the stable. : : :
