Won easily; second and third the same. ADVOCATOR improved his position under urging, disposed of TOP RADIO in the final quarter mile and drew away, winning with speed in reserve. TOP RADIO was rushed into command at the break, showed speed but could not menace the winner when placed under urging. KNAVE HIGH was placed under pressure in the final quarter and outlasted MERRY MAKER. The latter moved up with determination when called upon on the inside, but hung at the finish. NATIONAL ANTHEM followed the early pace under steady restraint while jumping boldly, moved into, command after going the first two miles, shook off determined challenges from JUNGLE KING and drew away, winning with speed in reserve. JUNGLE ICING was unprepared at the start, but jumped timidly at his first few fences, improved his position the final turn of the field and finished well, but could not menace the winner. SNAP BACK was rated along in front under snug restraint, jumped well all the way and had no mishaps in the running. Scratched 26550 Busbranger, 162; 26550Birmingham, 142; 26144 St. Francis, 146. MISS MERRIMENT was placed on the outside of the stalls, was rushed into command after the break, opened up a safe lead, was rated along steadily saving ground and had speed in reserve. EXCITE improved his position on the inside, saved ground rounding the stretch turn and wore down WESTON in the final drive. The latter, a forward factor in the early stages, bore out at the stretch turn and finished on the outside, but was tiring at the end. Start good and slow. Won driving; second and third the same. POMPOON forced the early pace under urging, disposed of REBELLION, drew away slightly and held FENCING safe in the final drive. The latter bore over towards the inside after the break and caused some crowding, moved up under pressure and finished steadily. WAR ADMIRAL was outrun early, moved up gamely on the inside under pressure and outlasted BLACK. LOOK in the final drive. The latter, slow to begin, was placed under pressure in the final quarter mile and finished gamely on the outside. GURKHA showed a good effort from the start. PTOLEMY had no mishaps in the running. DEVILS BANNER finished well. OPTIC swerved repeatedly in the running. REBELLION showed a flash of early speed and then quit. Scratched 26551 Danger Point, 122; 26551 Monument, 117. AT POST 6 minutes. Start good and slow. Won driving; second and third easily. GRANVILLE, away well and under steady restraint in the early running, moved up with determination rounding the far turn, came to the outside of the leaders entering the stretch and under severe pressure wore down MR. BONES in the final strides. The latter set a steady pace under steady restraint while saving ground, shook off JEAN BART in the stretch and held on with good courage under urging to the finish. HOLLYROOD, kept in a forward position from the start under steady restraint, improved his position when called upon and closed gamely through the stretch. CORUNDUM worked his way up steadily on the inside, saved ground entering the stretch and finished well. BREVITY was rated back off the pace under steadying restraint, was bothered slightly rounding the first turn, moved up when called upon, but flattened out in the stretch run. MEMORY BOOK showed improvement, but raced wide all the way. TEUFEL, a trailer in the early running, made up some ground slowly. He was fractious at the post. JEAN BART followed the early pace closely, but faltered badly at the stretch turn when called upon. RED RAIN was outrun in the first part, was placed under pressure rounding the far turn, but could not gain on the leaders. ISOLATER tried to force the early pace, but quit badly and was not persevered with in the stretch run. SIXTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. Dot, Sept. 7, 1923 1:42 3 100. GEAN CANACH, on the inside and in close pursuit of the pace, was shuffled back turning for home, came to the outside in the stretch run and wore down FAIR STEIN in the final strides. The latter moved up when called upon, made a determined bid under pressure, but faltered in the final drive. PARADISICAL raced forwardly from the start and held on well at the end. THORSON was rushed into command after the break and had no mishaps in the running. OUR REIGH closed some ground at the end. ALFRED THE GREAT was outrun to the final eighth.
