WEE WINK FURNISHES UPSET Surprises by Taking Mohawk Purse at Agawam Before Big- Crowd Good Weather Prevails. AGAWAM, Mass., June 6. Wee Wink, carrying the silks of A. L. Dolan, was a surprise winner of the Mohawk Purse, the feature event today at Agawam Park. The winner raced the mile and seventy yards distance in track record time of 1:43, taking four-fifths of a second from the mark Taunton made earlier in the week. A half length back of the winner was Mrs. E. E. Bussells Sun Apollo which, in turn, led Kindacorn. Cohort Miss saved fourth money for A. P. Levi. The start was a good one with the field racing the first seventy yards before there was any leader, but when the turn was reached Manual and Sir Windsor had taken a small margin, then came Kindacorn and Wee Wink with the rest well back. Straightening out for the runt hrough the back-stretch Sir Windsor and Manual raced each other into the ground as first one and then the other had his head in front. Meanwhile, Coule was steadily moving up with Wee Wink until he was right with the leaders at the far turn. Half way around the turn Manual was through. Then Sir Windsor tired and Wee Wink took command, but Sun Apoolo move up next to the inner rail for the final drive. A general closing up of the field came at the stretch head, with Kindacorn and Cohort Miss coming from far in the rear with a rush that brought cheers from their , supporters, but in the drive to the wire Wee Wink proved best, staving of Sun Apollo, as mentioned above. The attendance rivaled that of Memorial Day, while the" weatherman was on his best behavior, furnishing the finest brand:; of mid-summer weather. The handle in the mu-tuels again topped the 00,000 mark, which .. left the officials in high glee.
