EAST WEEK AT ROCKINGHAM piacovery Carded to Start in 0,-. 000 Feature of Closing Program Next Saturday. SALEM, N. H., June 6. The last week at Rockingham Park promises to be the biggest and best of the meeting from every standpoint, even though it is hardly likely that any crowd approaching the proportions of the Decoration Day throng will jam its way through the gates of the park. However, this course is a stretch running track and always the last week has caused handle and crowd averages to soar. The best attractions of the current season are down for decision during the ensuing six days. The daily handle is right around 00,000 as the meeting enters its final week and if the average remains at this figure the new directorate of the plant is assured of success despite a slow start. The best handicap of the meeting and the richest in value will be decided on the final day. This is the Rockingham Park Handicap, with 0,000 added at a mile and a furlong. It will bring to the post the mighty Discovery, handicap champion of last year which will be making his 1936 eastern debut and his first start since the Santa Anita Handicap. The son of Display recently went a fast mile at Belmont Park, proving he has lost none of his vaunted speed and he should be ready for the race of his life in the, big event that winds up the meeting. His presence in the stake will furnish the best attraction offered at any New England track this year to date. There are forty-two nominees to the Rockingham Park Handicap, among them Roman Soldier, the reliable campaigner from Ejwood Sachsenmaiers stable; John Hay Whitneys Singing Wood and the Goliath from Hal Price Headleys barn, Whopper.
