CHATIN was rather slow to cet going, but closed strongly on the outside. MIKE T. had speed and went fairly well to the end. MODEL DAME made a game bid after entering the stretch, but tired near the end. HALSTEAD began slowly. FLAMING GIRL was practically left. Scratched Betty High, 108. KUMSIS went to the front soon after the start to open up a good lead and was never in danger. SPEED HOME was closest to the winner all the way, but was tiring fast at the end. OLD MAID struck a soft spot when she attempted to get through on the inside at the far turn, then came to the outside in the stretch and finished fastest of all in the middle of the track. HELENE MADISON, well up from the start and racing in the best going, finished strongly to catch MOONFACE in the final strides. The latter saved ground from the start to get through an opening on the inside and take command in the stretch to finish gamely next to the rail. SAN JOSE showed good early speed, but tired in the stretch. SKY BRUSH was dropped down behind the leaders in the stretch and showed a fairly good effort. EASTER DOLL tired. CLAUDIAN, off well, soon sprinted to the front to open up a good lead approaching the stretch turn and, withstanding a challenge from IRON HILLS at mid-stretch, was going away from the latter at the end. IRON HILLS moved up strongly on the outside around the stretch turn, but bore over on BONAMYE while challenging in the stretch and then dropped back of CLAUDIAN gradually. CUE BALL was a forward factor from the start and overcame slight interference to finish well. BONAMYE was racing strongly when sandwiched between the winner and IRON HILLS an eighth out and lost all chance. DECOTO had early speed, but was in trouble in the stretch. SHASTA BUDDY was shuffled back when passed by RICH DADDY on the far turn. The latter broke from outside the gate and was forced to race wide. MARGIEBELL had a rough trip. OLD JUDGE was well up from the start and went well to the end. TRITOMA was outrun early and, although making a run in the last quarter, did not seriously threaten the first two. STAR BROOK closed some ground. SWEET MAN and SAN RAMON were used up in the first seven-eighths. DUNDREARY was never a serious contender. Scratched 39782 Happy Jester, 114; 39821 Earnings, 108.
