VERONICA C, away well and in close quarters early, improved her position fast, after being guided to the outside, responded to strong urging when reaching the lead and won drawing away. YULE STAR worked his way forward steadily, was guided to the inside for the drive, was in close quarters in the Final eighth and Finished in a dead heat with ALWINTOUR. The latter raced wide early, forged to he front approaching the final quarter, responded to strong urging in the stretch, tired near the end, but was locked with YULE STAR at the end. CHINESE EMPRESS, hustled along from the start, took command entering the stretch, was shuffled back in the final eighth and tired thereafter. SADIE F. tired. SPEED LIMIT made up ground. IDLE WORKER, hustled along from the start, wore THE JURIST down in the final eighth, but failed to withstand the winner. FLIGHT OF GOLD, shuffled back at the far turn, worked his way forward steadily when clear and finished strongly. JOLYON improved his position under good urging and finished fast. IAGO had a rough trip. THE JURIST rushed into a good lead early, responded well when challenged, but quit rapidly in the final eighth. RAFFLES LAD quit badly after reaching contention on the inside. ROYAL COUNTESS, hustled from the start, responded to strong urging after reaching the stretch wore MISS DE MIE down in the final eighth and withstood CHERRY CHIC. The latter, away slowly and in dose quarters early, moved up fast when clear and was gaining on the winner at the end. MISS DE MIE never far back, took command after a quarter, drew clear rapidly, increased her advantage in the stretch but tired fast in the last eighth. BRIGHT LAND made up ground. JESTING LADY tired. MISS FIREFLY dropped back after a half mile, came again on the inside in the stretch, and finished well. ERECH, used up in reaching the lead, quit under pressure. DIZZY B. showed nothing.
