FLORIDA TO SEEK LAW FOR HANDBOOKS TALLAHASSEE, Fla., April 7. A bill to legalize operation of handbooks in the state is scheduled to be dumped into Floridas legislative mills before the end of the week, well informed sources announced tonight. This became known just as Maryland passed a law legalizing handbook making. Estimated revenue from such a law in Florida was tentatively estimated at ,000,000 a year. Proponents, who declined to be publicly identified with the measure until their plans for pushing the bill through the senate and house committees are more nearly complete, were loath to talk about the proposal. Advantages of such a law in Florida were pointed out, to include the control of book-making, a feature that never before has been tried in Florida. They expressed belief that action of the Maryland house of representatives in passing a legalized handbook bill would have a favorable effect on progress of such a measure.
