5 After enjoying a run of success in the first four races the favorite followers ran into a snag in the next two events one of which was the Eleanor Whitney Claiming Purse a mile and seventy yards contest that served as the feature contest of the days program of seven races at the Fox Valley Jockey Clubs course over a heavy track trackIn In the Eleanor Whitney Hazel Eye ridden by Carl Hanauer outran his rivals from start to finish to lead High Man across the line by four lengths while Grandmas Boy landed the show portion of the purse and the heavilysupported Sorcery a previous win ¬ ner here drew up in last place a badly beaten runner runnerMrs Mrs A Deckers chestnut filly which was bred by Alderman J 3 Coughlin jumped into the lead soon after the start and re ¬ mained there for every stride of the journey thanks to a welljudged bit of horsemanship displayed by the tiny Hanauer HanauerLANDS LANDS IN LAST PLACE PLACESorcery Sorcery followed Hazel Eye for the first quarter despite the fact that he was carried wide on the clubhouse turn But that was the only real speed that Sorcery displayed during the entire mile and seventy yards race for the son of Black Servant began
