MAEK RACES STAETED STAETEDFROM FROM AUSTRALIAN BARRIER BARRIERNEW NEW YORK N Y May 5 For the con ¬ venience of racegoers and to assist them in making their selections the New York State Racing Commission has directed that here hereI I after race programs shall carry printed notices indicating those races that are be ing started from the Australian barrier barrierAt At present many race patrons are un ¬ j familiar with the barrier which was only introduced with the beginning of racing April 15 and do not take the precaution of ascertaining whether it is to be used before making their selection As a result there have been demonstrations of dissatisfaction which have not only alarmed horses start ¬ ing from the barrier but also hampered the starter and his assistants assistantsBy By printing clearly on programs in which races the barrier is to be used the racing associations will be giving track patrons information which they ought to have
