MACK GARNERS DERBY Mack Garner was astride his first mount at Butte Mont July 16 1914 and for twenty years fostered the hope of winning the Ken ¬ tucky Derby He had Derby mounts almost yearly but they were not good enough In 1929 when he was up on Colonel Bradleys Blue Larkspur it appeared he was about to attain his ambition but fourth was the best he could do However 1934 brought him the glory he had long sought and showing perfect horsemanship and coming from far back he piloted Cavalcade to victory He was up on Morpluck in 1935 and Sangreal in 1936 but failed to gain a place
