DERBY WINNERS DO WELL WELLIN IN ENGLISH RACING Reigh Count and Omaha Kentucky Derby winners in 1928 and 1935 respectively also Mate which finished third to Twenty Grand and Sweep All in 1931 raced abroad after their threeyearold years Reigh Count won the Coronation Cup and was second in the Ascot Gold Cup Omaha was successful in the Victor Wild Stakes and Queens Plate and was second in the Princess of Wales Stakes and in the Ascot Gold Cup The latter race was one of the best ever wit ¬ nessed in England and Omaha was only beaten by inches by the great mare Quashed Some English critics were of the opinion that a dead heat would have been the fair thing English sportsmen rate Omaha as superior to Reigh Count and one of the best stayers ever to come from America Mate while one of the largest money winners in the history of the American turf failed to make much of an impression abroad his only important victory in England being in the Challenge Cup
