First Foal at Sheas Farm FarmHYDE HYDE Md May 5 The first foal of the year dropped at Danny Sheas Mary ¬ land Farm near here was a bay filly by American Flag Long Bit by Ladkin Al ¬ though twelve years old Long Bit had but two previous foals a bay filly by High Strung in 1942 and a brown colt by Gay Monarch the year before This year Long Bit will be bred to old Bud Lerner who holds court at this nursery Onetime winner of the Youthful and Whirl stakes and a few other races Bud in getting on in years He is now twentythree Among some of his more important winners were Thanksgiving Toddle On Bettys Buddy Be Jabbers Hardy Bud and a few others A rather useful race mare the winner of twentysix races Long Bit is by Ladkin out of Ogdens daughter Cypera dam of a few mediocre winners
