— Count Fleet to Miss Classic JAMAICA, L. I., N. Y., June 28.— John Hertz announced this afternoon that Count Fleet would not be shipped to Arlington Park to fulfill his engagement in the Classic. In speaking of the famed colt, who races for Mrs. Hertz, he pointed out that the Count was sound and galloping daily over the Belmont Park track. The decision to miss the Classic was arrived at following a conference with trainer Cameron over the week-end. "The colt is sound and there are no injuries. He wrenched himself in his Belmont engagement and the filling that followed is entirely cleaned up," he added. Trainer Cameron and Dr. Southard are satisfied as to his present physical condition. Count Fleet will be placed in light training within 10 days and his next engagement either will be the Travers or the American Derby. The time-honored Saratoga fixture precedes the Washington Park attraction. In continuing, Mr. Hertz said that Count Fleet was a good colt and that instead of rushing him for his Classic engagement the extra layoff and training period would react to his advantage.
