Candidates for Various HBPA Posts Nominated HAWTHORNE, Cicero, 111., May 25.— More than 150 members of the central division of the Horsemens Benevolent and Protective Association held a meeting in Cicero last night and nominated candidates for an election that will follow within the next two weeks. Named for vice-president were the incumbent, Merle G. Farnsworth, and Roscoe Goose, Lawrence H. Thompson and Monte Weil. Candidates for secretary and treasurer are Al Gaal, Harold Hoffman. John Cummings and Fred Haldy. Twenty horsemen were also nominated as candidates for the executive committee. Eleven will be elected from that group. Dan Chappell, who is the national legal counsel for the HBPA, came up from Florida to attend the session and he made a brief but impressive address. He told the members that horsemen at this time are faced with an acute crisis and that only 100 per cent cooperation on their part will enable them to handle the many and varied obstacles that lay in their path.
