Morgan Speedster Turns Back Pujante Reaches Wire Over Length To Good at Belmont Park; Another for Ocean Brief BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y., May 26. T. P. Morgans False Move took command soon after the start of the featured Firearm Purse at Belmont Park today and drove to the end of the mile event a length and a quarter before Arnold Hangers Pujante, who led Maine Chance Farms Perfect Bahrain another length. Lazy F Ranchs Calvados finished just a neck out of the money and a length before Greentree Stables School Tie, who completed the small field. Basil James, who had ridden Ocean Brief in the fourth race, completed a double on False Move. The son of Discovery, from the nimble Balking, was favored by the majority of the Monday crowd of 25,565 and paid .70. The time for the mile was an acceptable 1:37. False Move was the fifth successful choice -in the first six races, the only surprise coming in the steeplechase that was third on the card, when L. E. Stoddard Jr.s Parader scored over Copper Beech and the favored Picture Prince to return an even 0. Perfect Bahram was first out of the gate in the Firearm, but James quickly hustled False Move up along the inside rail to take a narrow lead over Pujante that he "gradually widened as they neared the far turn. Calvados was lapped on the. runner-up in the early stages, while Perfect Bahram dropped back to fourth place before School -Tie. Perfect Bahram Lugs In False Move swung around the curves for home more than a length in the lead as Pujante was caught between horses and momentarily dropped back behind Calvados and Perfect Bahram. While False Move drove down the middle of the track, Perfect Bahram began to lug in from the extreme outside after bearing out when making a threatening move on the final turn and Pujante saved ground along the inside. Perfect Bahram appeared to carom off of Pujante with the latter having enough left to go on to take the place. The feature event was almost overshadowed by the sparkling performance of Carr Hatchs filly, Ocean Brief, in the Polka Dot Purse, that was fourth on the card. Basil James moved his hands just once on the daughter of Roman, from Miss Brief, a sister to Brevity and dam of Cable, winner of last years Yankee Handicap, and the trim bay filly scored by seven lengths over Sidney S. Schuppers Miss Disco, with Ogden Phipps Graciously another length away and two lengths before Walter P. Chryslers Stage Mother at the end of the six furlongs.
