SWEEP SWINGER was not hurried early, moved into closer contention on the final turn, secured room on the inside to save ground and drive to the front, but was under stiff punishment to withstand a stout challenge from SIR SPRITE. The latter broke fast, but was permitted to settle in stride, moved up stoutly between horses on the turn, was taken to the outside for the drive, met the bid of the winner stubbornly and just failed to get up. BIMONT was outrun early while trailing and finished fast when in stride, but could not threaten the first two. BOY-PLIN raced evenly and forwardlyi but weakened. DARBY DIM0UT had speed to set the pace to the stretch, but flattened out. WATCH ANDY was done early. BILL ROSS raced with the leaders early, but guit badly. DELIA M. was hustled to the front in the run for the first turn, drew clear and was steadied off the rail for better footing, met the bid of the challenger stubbornly and lasted under strong handling. LITTLE MONARCH was steadied back of the pace and on the inside, was placed to pressure to move to the leader on the outside in the stretch and just failed to get up. CASTLEMAN was forwardly placed while racing with LITTLE MONARCH and on the outside, but weakened. BOSS ME was unable to improve his position.
