Dress Up Cranwood Plant For Wednesdays Opening OpeningCard Card Two Handicaps WeekErrds And One on MidWeek Programs ProgramsCRANWOOD CRANWOOD PARK Warrensville Ohio May 8 Racing fans from this area who attended the sport at Chanwood Park be ¬ fore it was closed in 1932 will be amazed at the transition the halfmile oval has undergone in recent weeks to be ready for a 19day meeting beginning Wednesday The Cranwood Racing Association of which organization George W Lewis is general manager and George W Tipling is president will sponsor the session Lewis has been a popular figure in racing in this rsector having been for many years asso ¬ ciated with Thistle Down Tipling who is of Cleveland O has also played a iprom inent part in the thoroughbred sport in this community and is well known to turf patrons here hereCranwood Cranwood Park located 11 miles south ¬ east of the center of Cleveland and only a halfmile from the Thistle sDown and Ran ¬ dall Park racing strips has been completely gone over to stage the approaching meet ¬ ing The grandstand has a new coat of paint the racing strip has been resurfaced and new rails installed on the inside and outside and aprons in the grandstand en ¬ closure has been paved with blacktop The parking area has been enlarged and re graded and then rolled and will provide ample space spacePost Post time daily has been set at 215 p m Day light Saving Time and the first and second races on the card comprise the Daily Uoiible wagering pool Eight races will be presented daily with each contest limited to nine starters according to present plans A minimum purse of 1000 will prevail during the Cranwood Park session The first issue of the book df conditions being distributed by racing secretary L J Giles who held the same post during the Thistle DownatJlandall Park meeting last sum ¬ mer is liberally sprinkled with purses of rfering above the 1000 minimum A pair of handicap events are slated for each week ¬ end and one on each Wednesday during the meeting meetingThe The jopening day card will be featured by the 2000 Cranwood Inaugural Handi cap which is for threeyearolds and older horses and will be decided at one and one sixteenth miles The Geauga ILake Jlandi cap at six furlongs will serve as a cof ea ture Giles is confident that both events will contain limit fields Entries lor the two everits dose Monday rand weights and acceptances appear the following day
