Hoffman Resigns HBPA Post Due to Racing Out of Area HAWTHORNE, Cicero, 111., May 15.— It was with regret that -Joseph G. Kohout, vice president of the central division of the Horsemen-s Benevolent and Protective Association, announced today that he had accepted the resignation of Harold C. Hoffman as secretary-treasurer of that organization. Hoffman tendered his resignation at a meeting of the committee, which was held at their track office Monday evening. Hoffman explained to the committee that, because of the fact that he was leaving Saturday with the Arlington Farms Stable to race at Detroit most of the summer, he would not have the time to devote to his secretarial work. Kohout prevailed on Hoffman to remain active with the committee and to hold himself in readiness to return to Chicago at any time to act in an advisory capacity. Hoffman has been secretary-treasurer of the central division for the past two years. Robert Cameron has been appointed temporary secretary-treasurer for the unexpired term.
