LOOSE ROCK, outrun to the stretch, was sent to the extreme outside for the drive and, closing strongly under brisk handling, wore down the leaders in the last sixteenth. CIMMERONA went to the front early, set the pace while engaging LORI-JANE to the final furlong and continued willingly, but was unable to hold LOOSE ROCK. LORI-JANE, a sharp factor from the start, gave a good performance and had no excuse. RUN RED RUN, on the outside to the stretch, finished well under punishment, but could not overtake LORI-JANE ENDON lacked early speed, but closed strongly when sent to the inside for the drive. HANGOVER lacked early speed and raced wide through the stretch. ACES WIRED began fast, but failed to stay. DAGAZHA showed nothing. BILLS CAPTAIN was outrun. AMBUSHED moved up fast when nearing the stretch, took command from BADGER during the drive and drew clear while under brisk handling. ASTOUNDING steadily worked way forward, was sent to the outside for the stretch run and closed determinedly, but could not seriously threaten the top one. BADGER went to the front early, set the pace until inside the stretch, then gave way when challenged by AMBUSHED. ROLL BAMA gave a good effort and had no mishap. THIRTY-ONE was never prominent. BLACK COFFEE began alertly, but dropped back after the start and failed to rally, pulling up bleeding badly from the mouth. SAILS went to the front early, set the pace to the last quarter mile under good rating, then settled in the stretch with a good lead and, overccnfidently handled near the finish, lasted to withstand FIRST NIGHTER: The latter, outrun to the stretch, was sent to the inside during the drive and, closing strongly, was getting to SAILS at the finish. COLYMBUS lacked early speed, drifted to the extreme outside at the final turn, then finished fast under punishment. PRINCE CONSORT moved up fast in the early stretch, but was unable to better his position when set down in the drive. TONIGHT tired during the final furlong. OUR SUSAN was never dangerous. TAUNTING was outrun. LIEUTENANT gave way after racing forwardly placed to the last eighth mile. FOXPOISE could not "keep up. TRINACRIA, caught between horses after the start, tired after showing brief speed. FIDGET began fast, engaged SAILS to the mile, then gave way. Scratched 191092 Mason County, 114.
