WATCH TOY moved up strongly after leaving the backstretch and overtook FAIRN SQUARE at midstretch to take a good advantage, but was ridden out at the end to hold EFFIE W. The latter was never too far removed, and coming strongly in the last eighth, was wearing down the winner at the end. OUR GIFT was in close quarters on the inside around the far turn and dropped back, but came again in the stretch to finish well. DARLIN ANN moved to catch DEEP MARGIE after leaving the backstretch and, going in her best form, drew out in the final furlong to score by a wide margin. GEORGE SCHRECK made a good run nearing the stretch turn, but faltered in the last eighth when unable to get to the winner CHRISTY IMP was always a good contender and finished steadily. PAST ECLIPSE made up some ground. DEEP MARGIE had the most early speed, but tired in the stretch. MISS J. was unable to keep up and failed to be a serious contender. E Z EYE was always within striking distance and coming strongly between horses in the final furlong, got to the front about fifty yards out and won going away. ROYAL CHARGE saved ground entering the stretch to draw up to HAPS REWARD, then went well to the end. HAPS REWARD had the most early speed, but lost considerable ground on the stretch turn, then continued fairly well while racing very wide. BLACK GALLANT, off quickly, drew away from the field soon after the start, and opening a wide margin nearing the stretch turn, was never in danger, being fairly well in hand coming to the finish. ROUND SEVEN improved his position under urging to finish well in advance of the others. SPEED ROUSER was the runher-up in the early part, but tired and just managed to save third place. BUGLE CORPS lost little time in getting to the front and racing as if easily best, was never in danger of being headed at any stage, pulling away in the final eighth to win as his rider pleased. GUS FAN easily disposed of CHERIFUL in the stretch run, but could not never get close to the winner. COW TOWN was in close quarters twice in the first three-eighths while trying to get through on the inside and lost his chance, although finishing fairly well. BARBARA L failed to be a contender. DARTING BROOK was a good contender from the start, and coming resolutely in the last eighth, passed VIGOR and was not seriously threatened by NO TRICKS, although hustled along to the end. NO TRICKS raced well to improve his position in the last eighth and finished well. VIGOR showed good speed in pacemaking and widened nearing the stretch turn, but faltered in the final drive. CAJUN QUEEN dropped back suddenly nearing the far turn, but went well thereafter. BULL HIEROCLES was unable to outrun VIGOR while racing on the inside in the first part and, although saving ground on the-stretch turn, dropped back gradually in the last furlong. RIVAS went to the front at once and soon drew into a long lead, then raced well and was never in danger of being caught. MYSTIC CHIEF came steadily through the stretch to pass SLIP 0 NED and hold ALS BOURBON. The latter was outrun early, then came wide in the stretch to finish fairly well. SLIP 0 NED saved ground, but weakened. ALHAMPERED was badly outrun. SECRET IMPULSE stopped badly after going half the trip. Overweight Slip o Ned, 3 pounds; Alhampered, 1.
