FRANKS MAUDE, well placed from the start, took command approaching the stretch, continued willingly when set down in the drive and lasted to withstand ROYCE. The latter, never far back, finished strongly under punishment, but could not overtake the top one. ABSOLUTE raced evenly to the stretch, responded well when hard urged during the drive, but could not reach the leaders. LETS, THINK, forced wide entering the stretch, raced well when straightened for the drive. BOOS COMET tired after racing forwardly placed to the stretch. SMART EVE began sluggishly, saved ground when sent to the inside for the drive, then faltered. HUMPHREY, forced to take when crowded after the start, failed to recover. PADDY LANE could not keep up. MAJA DE GOYA was never dangerous. MILLI VICTOR showed nothing. IBERIA BOY, taken up when roughed after the break, could not reach serious contention when clear. MELVYN GARY took command early, set the pace to the stretch, then drifted out during the drive, but lasted to withstand BATTLE BOAT. The latter began fast but dropped back immediately after the start, gradually improved position after the initial quarter mile and, sent to the outside of MELVYN GARY for the. stretch run, could not overtake the winner; although easily best of the others. SHORT CABLE was unable to threaten the top pair when set down in the drive. FLASH RED tired after racing forwardly placed to the stretch. SHAMROCK LAD failed to stay when set down through the stretch. OPOLIS raced wide. INDIAN BLAZE was outrun. WATSEKA showed nothing. SOUTH GATE was through early. PLEASURE WITH was never prominent. The stewards flashed the inquiry sign and checked the performances of MELVYN GARY and BATTLE BOAT before making the original result official. G., disposed of the latter, then held on gamely to withstand NEWATE. The latter moved up boldly approaching the stretch, went to the extreme outside for the drive and closed strongly but could not overtake the top one. CHERRY BULL, on the inside for the stretch run, finished willingly. KATE G., a sharp factor throughout, bore to the outside at the final turn, then could not get to the leaders when straightened for the drive. CHALLENGE WITT gave a fair effort and had no mishap. EXAGGERATED, caught in close quarters soon after the start, failed to recover. RICHARD raced greenly. TINY HEART, forced wide at the stretch turn, tired during the drive. LADY CUTUP began sluggishly. MRS; G. began fast, raced with COL. CON to the stretch, then gave way. HAPPYS SAM was through early. GRAVEL BIN began alertly but dropped out of serious contention immediately after the start. BILLS ROCKET and TATTOO KID showed nothing. H0PEID0, never far back, took command from BIT 0 WHIZ during the stretch run and lasted to hold BROOKY safe. The latter, well placed early, closed strongly under brisk urging, but could not overtake the top one. BIT 0 WHIZ began fast, raced MOON LOVE into defeat before entering the stretch, then faltered during the final furlong. BLEN SAND was outrun and had no excuse. NEPAL began sluggishly.
