Nashua visited the paddock to familiarize himself with that area before his trial. The remaining Derby eligibles spent a quiet morning. Swaps only galloped, while Summer Tan and Racing Fool were walked. It was the first time Arcaro, who will try for his sixth Derby victory with Nashua, rode the big, husky colt since he booted him home in the Florida Derby late in March. I had to shake him up going down the backstretch," Arcaro said. "That is where Nashua usually is pulled up after workouts and I guess he thought his job was done. He started up willingly enough and really started to run when I hit him twice entering the stretch. He must have done that last quarter in 25 seconds." It was exactly 25 seconds. Trim Destiny, winner of the Arkansas Derby, worked between races this afternoon going one mile in 1:40. ridden out sharply, with jockey Lois C. Cook in the irons.
