Great Captain and Two More in Massachusetts Bassanio and Fabulist Increase _ Suffolk Feature Roster to 21 SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., May 3. — The list of nominations for the 0,000 added Massachusetts Handicap were augmented this morning with the arrival of three mail nominees which bring the total eligibles for New Englands foremost racing event to 21. Topping the list of newcomers is the Ogden Phipps pair of Great Captain and Bassanio, two of the better distance stais on the East Coast, while the other addition to the already impressive list of handicap stars is the High Tide Stables Fabulist.. Great Captain in being placed on the roster of eligibles for the Mass Cap is generally regarded as one of the top distance performers in the nation as evidenced by his brilliant victory in the 1954 renewal of the mile and three-quarter Saratoga Cup, and, -by his impressive victory early this year In the mile and one-quarter San Marcos Handicap at Santa Anita. In that test, run over the turf, Great Captain defeated such stars as Poona n„ High Scud, James Sessions, Joe Jones and St. Vincent. / The . addition of this six-year-old son of War Admiral— Big Hurry to the list of nominations for Suffolks biggest test of the season is most welcome. He may be competing with such good distance performers .as High Gun, Social Outcast, Helioscope, Joe Jones, Fisherman, Capea-dor, Paper Tiger, Mark-Ye-Well, Fleet Bird, Wise Margin, Cold Command, Cyclotron and others. Weights for the mile and one-quarter test are to be announced on Tuesday, May 10, with winners of 5,000 following publications of weights to be penalized 3 pounds.
