King Commander to Start In Appleton on Thursday BELMONT PARK, Elmonf, L. I., N. Y., May 3. — King Commander, steeplechasings Horse of the Year last year, will make his first start of 1955 on Thursday in, the 34th running of the Charles L. Appleton Memorial Steeplechase at Belmont Park. King Commander, owned by Lawrence Troiano of Port Washington, N. Y„ won 4,350 during 1954. "Mickey" Walsh, trainer of the year during 1954 in steeple-chasing, says The King has been working well. Another horse from the Walsh barn, Sun Shower, will probably also" start in the Appleton. Sun Shower, owned by Mrs. Vernon Cardy, of Montreal, Que., took down 1,-575 in prizes during 1954.
