Jan Hebert to Race Short While LOS ANGELES, Calif., June 4.— Jan Hebert, three-year-old filly by Solidarity, has been -bred to Postwar Valor and will be returned to racing for a few months before retirement to the nursery. The practice of breeding mares arly in the spring and then racing them for a short period seems to be growing, despite the thumbs-down attitude of some of the countrys successful breeders who hold that to do sq risks leeching a mite of energy from the mares which might otherwise be bestowed on the foal.
