Notes From Along the Banks of Stoner Creek PARIS, Ky., June 4.— One of the better two-year-olds to appear so far this year in New York seems to be Jean Baptiste, who scored his second victory in three public appearances last Saturday at Belmont. In his other start, he was fourth to Pollys Jet in the Juvenile Stakes. The son of Ambiorix and Jittery Jane was sold last summer at Keeneland by Stoner Creek to Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd P. Tate and some good reports had drifted back to Mrs. John D. Hertz nursery prior to his debut. He now appears to be fulfilling that, promise. AAA Stoner Creeks consignment to the 1955 Summer Sales at Keeneland includes a half-sister of Jean Baptiste by Count Fleet. This miss is "loaded" with the gray blood of which Mr. and Mrs. Hertz are so fond. Besides her two crosses from Count Fleet, she gets two more from Jittery Jane, whose dam is by Haste out of Natica, by Stefan the Great. Both Haste and Stefan the Great are direct male descendants of the gray-line founder, Le Sancy. AAA Three other Count Fleets are in the Stoner Creek consignment — a roan filly out of the - Mahmoud mare Obedient, whose dam, Uvira IL, also produced the stakes winners General Staff „ Colonel OF, Noble Impulse and Parnassus; a colt out of Misty Isle, crack stakes winner and dam of Cosmic Missile; arid a colt out of War Admirals half-sister, Lydia.
