T T CONDENSED HISTORY OF THE GREAT TRIAL STAKES Heretofore tlie Great Trial lias been as distinctly the Coney Island Jockey Clubs most valuable fixture for two-year-olds of its summer meetings as lias the Futurity of its autumn meetings. Its guaranteed value last year was 5,000. Tills year it is of just one-tenth of that goodly sum. It Is not so old as the Futurity, baying first been run in 1891, when, it fell to that remarkable two-year-old. His Highness. After him, a succession of great two-year-olds won the Great Trial, among tliem being such noble examples of the thoroughbred as Domino. Waltzer, Handspring. Hamburg, Jean Bereaurt, David Garrick.
