ENTRIES IN JAMAICA STAKES TO CLOSE The meetings of the Metropolitan Jockey Club at its track at Jamaica have grown in importance and popularity until they now rank abreast of the other annual racing reunions of the New York tracks in general This year Jamaica is to have two spring meetings the first from May 15 to May 21 the second from June 1 to June 21 They are dig ¬ nified by a provision of seventeen guaranteed value stake races of which eight are of the value of 000 each the others ranging down to 2000 They close for entries at midnight of today and are ad vertiscd in this issue of Daily Racing Form It is a peculiarity of the Jamaica track that it lias no mile record the reason Iming that no nice at that distance has been run over it This track tradition is to be shattered this year for one of the 5000 stake races is the Stuyvesant Handicap for three yearolds at a mile Although horses available for racing now are fewer in number than lias been the case in recent years their average class is such as to presage the best of racing The Jamaica stakes are entitled to and no doubt will receive entry lists embracing all of the desirable horses destined to make the eastern campaign of 1910 I
