TITLE OAK SURPRISE WINNER Defeats Eldee in Feature Race at Montreal Track for His Third Straight Win of Meeting. MONTREAL, Que., June 22.— Title Oak, improved eight-year-old unsexed son of Title and Oaktown Belle, raced to a surprise victory in the running of the Province of Quebec Handicap, feature of the half-holiday card. Miss K. Lauras Eldee, shouldering 124 pounds and winner of her six previous starts, was in second place before E. Se-guins recently acquired Slipper King, which was making his first appearance at the track. Remrofrep was in fourth place before Panbula. Title Oak was ridden in masterly fashion by F. Case, and it was his fhird consecutive winning effort at the meeting. A large crowd turned out for the sport despite the heavy rains which fell up until post time. The sun broke through following the running of the first event, and the program was run off under bright skies but over a track deep and heavy in mud. There was a long delay at the start caused by the unruly actions of Mint Jake and Scara Glen. Mint Jake unseated his rider and ran off but was brought back and continued his bad behavior. When the start finally came Case immediately sent Title Oak into the lead, but she was outrun to the half-mile post. Scara Glen, which was away slowly, raced to the leaders and was in third place before Eldee. Rounding the turn Vitella was through and Title Oak went into the lead and Eldee moved up on the inside. When the stretch was reached Title Oak still held sway and was placed to a drive and, closing well, outlasted Eldee to the finish to have a length advantage. Eldee made a determined bid in the last furlong, but the heavy impost was beginning to tell, so that he could not reach the winner. Slipper King was far back in the early stages and closed a large gap to take third position. A
