Cards Ink Sanford, Louisiana Techs All-Conference Center Leo Sanford, Louisiana Tech center and Cardinals seventh choice in the National Football League winter draft, has signed a contract with the Big Red for the fall campaign, president Ray Bennigsen revealed yesterday. Sanford, a 21 -year-old native of Shreve-port, La., captained Tech last season and was named All-Gulf State Conference pivotman for the past two years. He is six feet, one inch in height and weighs 220 pounds. The signing of Sanford brings to 22 the number of players signed by the Cards thus far. Thursday the South Siders announced that Ed Jasonek, Furman College fullback, and fifth draft selection, had agreed to terms. Cards coach Earl "Curly" Lambeau has thus far acquired the signatures of four of his first five draft picks. Previously Notre Dames All-American center, Jerry Groom; tackle Don Joyce of Tulane, and end Don Stonesifer of Northwestern, first, second and third choices respectively, had entered the fold.
